Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command in Silverdale, WA is seeking a Sales Associate to join our team. This full-time position offers benefits from day one and a competitive federal wage, with opportunities to serve military patrons and their families in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will assist customers, process transactions at the POS, and promote upcoming events and promotions while delivering premier service. High school diploma preferred; no military affiliation required.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Cash handling and POS familiarity.
• Retail experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively engages, connects and listens to customers to determine needs.
• Directs customers to merchandise and informs them about events, promotions, and STAR card offers with premier service.
• Availability to work varied hours including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Operate POS system, process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, and card payments.

So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?

• - Proactively engages, connects and listens to customers by asking questions to determine customers’ needs.
• -Directing customers to merchandise; informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card promotions all while providing premier customer service.
• - Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• - Using a Point-of-Sales system, processing cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards (cash handling) including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customer.

The Qualifiers:

• · Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job duties.
• · Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• · Previous Retail Experience preferred but not required
