POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cashier is responsible for checking out customers' merchandise through the POS registers. They perform various Customer Service activities, including greeting and acknowledging all customers in a prompt and friendly manner, and handling merchandise with care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
2. Approaches all customers in a friendly and outgoing manner.
3. Remains knowledgeable about products.
4. Remains aware of advertised sales.
5. Stocks and straightens shelves and pegs in the immediate area when not directly ringing up products.
6. Provides a legendary experience for every customer by assisting in making buying decisions through:
   • Identifying and evaluating customers' needs,
   • Making product recommendations based on this analysis,
   • Promoting programs including, but not limited to, CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.
7. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and make change.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and colleagues.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale register system.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Constant standing and/or walking during shifts.
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
• Constant communication with others to exchange information.
• Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Occasional work in low or high temperatures.
• Occasional outdoor work in elements such as precipitation and wind.
• Occasional work in noisy environments.
• Light work involving moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds constantly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with team lift assistance.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs tasks under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices, with occasional independent judgment.
