Job description

Career Opportunities with C-A-L Ranch Stores

Current job opportunities are posted here as they become available.

C-A-L Ranch Stores was founded in 1959 in Idaho Falls, ID, by Clinton, Allen, and L. Wayne Murphy. The family used their initials “C-A-L” to create their brand. Our first store, located in Idaho Falls, ID was called C-A-L Ranch & Farm Supply. The store had less than 3,000 square feet and primarily sold tillage tools and hardware. After 60+ years of successful retail business, C-A-L Ranch Stores has grown from a single store to a regional retailer with multiple stores in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. While C-A-L Ranch Stores is no longer owned by the Murphys, it remains privately held, with the current owners continuing to operate the company based on the same fundamental mission and values.

Who We Are:

C-A-L Ranch Stores is a Ranch & Home Store AND SO MUCH MORE! Our team includes craftsmen, marksmen, outdoor grill masters, backyard farmers, and enthusiasts who love to hunt, fish, camp, hike, DIY, and enjoy outdoor events. We embrace a lifestyle of outdoor adventure, pet care, and community engagement.

What You’ll Do:

The cashier role is vital as it is often the customer’s first and only direct contact with our store. It is essential that our cashiers exemplify professionalism, courtesy, and exceptional customer service. They must maintain a friendly, positive attitude and represent C-A-L Ranch Stores with integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legendary customer service by greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining high standards, and demonstrating product knowledge.
  • Stay informed about product information, promotions, and advertisements.
  • Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store cleanliness.
  • Help process and replenish merchandise, and monitor floor stock.
  • Follow all company policies, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention procedures.
  • Accurately complete sales transactions and manage cash and media at POS registers.
  • Communicate guest requests to management.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and operate the inventory system for price checks and item look-ups.
  • Handle cash, checks, credit/debit card transactions, and issue receipts.
  • Verify totals on cash register tapes against cash on hand.
  • Process refunds or credit memos according to store policies.
  • Operate the cash register efficiently, passing items across the scanner and displaying purchase details.
  • Complete safety training videos and perform duties in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Answer incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
  • Assist in training new employees and other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, and over 25 pounds with assistance, using tools like a hand truck.
  • Must be physically present at the store; regular attendance and weekly work schedules are required.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
