Job summary

SpartanNash Grand Haven is seeking a part-time cashier to operate the register and scanner, itemize purchases, and assist customers at the front end. You will process transactions accurately and maintain a friendly, efficient checkout experience in a busy retail environment.

The role requires basic math, good communication, and the ability to stand for extended periods. Prior retail experience is a plus; training and benefits are provided as part of our Total Rewards program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• One year of prior retail or related experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely with customers.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; handle various payment methods accurately.
• Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, and coupons.
• Weigh and bag customer purchases; maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
• Understand and operate check-stand equipment (register, scanner, scale) for efficient service.
• Explain store programs, promotions and coupons to customers and uphold high service standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation and company policies; assist with stocking as needed.
