Job summary

The Kroger family of companies is seeking a part-time Cashier/Checker in Beckley, WV. You will be visible, greet customers, and assist with transactions at the checkout.

You must understand the POS system and handle multiple tender types while following policy on cash control and restricted items. As a Kroger associate, you will stay current with ads, adhere to safety and food safety guidelines, and provide a welcoming environment for customers, including assisting diverse guests with questions

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in the checkout area.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle tender types (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, etc.).
• Adhere to company policies on cash handling, shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs) and stay updated on ads and promotions.
• Ensure food safety regulations are followed and report any unsafe conditions.
