Job summary

Compass Group USA at Churchill Downs is seeking a part-time cashier for the Fall Racing Meet. This role handles cash transactions, verifies cash drawer, gives change, and processes receipts in a fast-paced stadium setting.

You may perform general food service tasks and must maintain sanitation standards. The fall and spring racing meet schedule offers seasonal work with potential return for next season.

Responsibilities

• Performs sales transactions in a timely fashion.
• Enters all sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded.
• Makes change, accepts declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment; issues receipts to customers.
• Follows standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
• Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards.
• Observes customer purchases in the cafe line and differentiates between standard portions.
• Replenishes condiments, coffee, other beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service areas.
• Keeps pastry case stocked.
• Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
• Ensures compliance with all sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements.

Levy at Churchill Downs has opportunity for seasonal, part-time employees to join our team for our Fall Racing Meet. Team members that successfully complete the Fall Racing Meet will be invited to return for our Spring Racing Meet in April, which includes the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.

Churchill Downs is home of the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby has been described by Forbes as one of the "Greatest Bucket-list Sporting Events" in America. Every year, on the first Saturday in May, over 150,000 of guests gather under the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs to create lifelong memories with their friends and family.

• Our Fall Racing Meet lasts from October 25th - November 29th and includes Thanksgiving and Black Friday
• Our Spring Racing Meet lasts from April 24th– June 27th and will include the Kentucky Oaks, the Kentucky Derby, and Downs After Dark

Summary:

Performs cashiering duties, including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, counting cash receipts and completing cash reports. May also perform general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service and dining room facilities.
