Job summary

Pomptonian Food Services is seeking a friendly Cashier to work at Betsy Ross Elementary School in Mahwah, New Jersey. The role involves handling monetary transactions, identifying reimbursable meals, and recording eligibility at the point of service while supporting cafeteria operations.

You will assist with food preparation as needed and back up teammates, maintaining a positive, efficient service environment and ensuring compliance with school meal program procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting (up to 50 pounds).
• Ability to operate general cafeteria equipment (e.g. warmer, fryer, slicer, grill, POS system).
• Punctual and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain monetary transactions and process reimbursements for NSLP/SBP.
• Identify reimbursable meals at point of service and record eligibility information.

Description

As a Pomptonian cashier your ability will be called upon to maintain all monetary transactions, recognize reimbursable meals in the National School Lunch and/or School Breakfast Program, interpret and record eligibility information at point of service, and be aware of the procedures approved of by the Bureau of Child Nutrition.

• Cashiers may be called upon to assist with food preparation.
• You must be willing to back up other team members in their jobs and assist in any area.
• Assist in food production, assist the cooks, serve the customers, maintain a sanitary environment and help with production records.
• Team members should demonstrate a positive, upbeat attitude while delivering superior customer service.
