Job summary

Los Tacos No. 1 in Union Square, New Jersey is seeking a friendly cashier to join our team. You will greet guests, take orders via a POS system, and handle cash and card transactions while keeping the dining area and salsa bar clean. This role rewards a positive attitude with tips on top of the hourly wage.

Flexibility is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior customer service experience is a plus, and strong math and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or retail is preferred.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

• Able to operate a POS system and basic PC tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and welcoming tone.
• Enter food orders using the cash register POS system.
• Handle cash and credit transactions accurately.
• Count money in the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift.
• Accept cash and provide correct change.
• Maintain salsa bar, drink cups, lids, and napkins.
• Clean dining room and cashier station.
• Keep beverage fridges stocked and clean.
• Upsell sides, drinks, and aguas frescas.
• Follow food safety and health guidelines.
• Resolve customer complaints and provide information.
• Take pride in serving guests with exceptional service.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the MOD.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet the customers with “ Bienvenido’s” and a smile
• Entering food orders using cash register POS System
• Handling Cash and credit transactions
• Count money in the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each work shift
• Accept cash and return the correct change
• Maintain a well-stocked salsa bar, drink cup lids, and napkins before and after shift
• Clean dining room, and cashier station
• Maintain Beverage Fridges stocked and clean
• Upsell products Sides, Drinks, Aguas Frescas, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness of the restaurant and follow all food safety and Health & safety guidelines
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
• Take pride in serving guests and providing exceptional customer service
• Completes other duties as assigned by the MOD (Manager on Duty)

Requirements

• Work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar role in sales
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Proven experience in a customer service role is an advantage
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Good math skills
• Basic PC knowledge
• Ability to handle cash and credit transactions
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Hourly rate = $18/hr. + tips
