Pima County Shooting Sports is looking for a part-time intermittent cashier to join the team. You will provide customer service to a variety of patrons in one of several locations, help maintain inventory of range supplies available to the public, and assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. You’ll work closely with Rangemasters and other staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for people. You will also assist with Shooting Range opening and closing procedures and create end-of-day reports.

Essential Functions

• Handle cash and electronic payments accurately for admissions, rentals, merchandise, or event fees;
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests and answering questions;
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to enter sales and manage transactions;
• Maintain accountability of funds by balancing the cash drawer and following cash-handling procedures;
• Communicate facility rules, hours of operation, and safety guidelines to patrons;
• Assist with reservations for park shelters, sports fields, or recreational programs;
• Maintain a clean and organized cashier station and surrounding area;
• Support special events and programs by providing cashier services or guest check-in;
• Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or suspicious activity to supervisors;
• Perform basic clerical tasks such as answering phones and filing paperwork.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

1,040 hours of experience performing cashier and customer service duties, assisting the general public.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

• Minimum one (1) year experience as a cashier or customer service representative.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one (1) year experience working with firearms at a public shooting range.
• Experience with firearms as a law enforcement officer or military personnel.
  
  

Selection Procedure

Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum/desired qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information

Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Some positions may require possession of a First Aid Certification Card and/or CPR Certification on the date of appointment.

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
