Job summary

Brookshire Brothers in Texas is seeking a cashier to scan merchandise, ring up sales, and handle cash transactions. You will greet customers with friendly service, maintain a neat appearance, and follow store policies. Training provided; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional extra shifts may be required.

Responsibilities include scanning items, bagging, and assisting customers while collaborating with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth store operations.

• Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Follow store policies and procedures including cash handling and alcohol/tobacco sales where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Scan items at a customer’s cart on an electronic scanner and place items on a belt for bagging.
• Perform shift duties as assigned by management and work well with others.
• Be willing to work additional shifts and perform other duties as directed by management.

Description

Cashiers scan merchandise for the customer in order to get a total cost for their items purchased and conduct an exchange of money (or other acceptable substitutions) for the cost of that customer's merchandise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

• Perform all shift duties assigned by management.
• Work well with others and follow instructions of shift leaders, managers and all other authority.
• Follow the company’s policies and procedures with relation to alcohol and tobacco sales, as well as cash handling, and all other policies and procedures for the company and/or store.
• Scan each item from a customer’s shopping cart on an electronic scanner and place the items on a conveying belt to be bagged.
• Be willing and able to work additional shifts other than what is posted on weekly schedule.
• Be willing and able to perform other duties as assigned such as general cleaning, custodial duties, and other activities as directed by management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The store will provide all necessary training. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. All other physical requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
