Job summary

Brookshire Brothers, Inc. is seeking a cashier to greet customers, operate the point-of-sale system, and handle transactions with care. You will scan items, bag purchases, and maintain courteous service at all times within the store environment.

Training will be provided; flexibility to work additional shifts and perform related duties as directed by management is required. Comfort with weight handling and maintaining store policies is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service and cash handling is preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow shifts and instructions.

Responsibilities

Cashiers scan merchandise for the customer in order to get a total cost for their items purchased and conduct an exchange of money (or other acceptable substitutions) for the cost of that customer's merchandise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

• Display outstanding customer service skills by greeting customers, and providing friendly, courteous service at all times. Display this same courtesy to co-workers as well.
• Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Perform all shift duties assigned by management.
• Work well with others and follow instructions of shift leaders, managers and all other authority.
• Follow the company’s policies and procedures with relation to alcohol and tobacco sales, as well as cash handling, and all other policies and procedures for the company and/or store.
• Scan each item from a customer’s shopping cart on an electronic scanner and place the items on a conveying belt to be bagged.
• Be willing and able to work additional shifts other than what is posted on weekly schedule.
• Be willing and able to perform other duties as assigned such as general cleaning, custodial duties, and other activities as directed by management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The store will provide all necessary training. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. All other physical requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
