The Cashier is responsible for efficiently processing customer sales transactions at the front registers, maintaining proper control of cash, ensuring customer satisfaction, and safeguarding company assets. The role involves assisting customers, maintaining a friendly demeanor, and adhering to procedural guidelines set by the Front End Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Walk the store prior to each shift to ensure awareness of promotional and sale items; perform produce walk and weekly testing.
2. Compute bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing the amount due.
3. Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.
4. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, or change due to customers.
5. Operate cash register, scan items, manually enter PLU or UPC codes, and display purchase details.
6. Greet customers and respond promptly to their needs.
7. Maintain a clean and orderly checkout area.
8. Issue coupons and rain checks.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred 1-2 years of grocery retail experience in Front End processes.
• Experience in natural foods industry is a plus.

Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions

Compensation & Benefits

Starting pay ranges from $14.50 to $15.88 per hour, with raises per company policy.
