Cashier Responsibilities
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons, following company policies.
  • Adhere to cash handling limits and work honestly to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (e.g., alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and advertisements.
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or incidents to management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by assisting with product questions and ensuring they feel valued.
  • Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  • Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
