Cashier Responsibilities
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages/overages and loss control.
  • Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Manage postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons following established procedures.
  • Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Comply with food safety regulations and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Perform equipment inspections and notify management of repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers and answering questions about products.
  • Follow all applicable laws and company policies, including safety and legal regulations.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
