Job summary

The Edgewater in Madison, WI is seeking a Retail Market cashier to assist guests in-store and craft made-to-order coffee drinks. You will handle sales, operate POS systems, and participate in merchandising and stock tasks in a hotel retail setting.

What We Accomplish Together

The Edgewater is opening an all-new retail space in the Spring of 2019 and we are in search of motivated individuals to be part of our new success! The Market will provide unique retail gifts including luxury clothing, home décor retail, UW Badger gear, food & beverage items and made to order specialty coffee drinks. Located just inside our main building on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Langdon Street – The Market will be a handy one-stop shop for neighborhood residents and hotel guests alike, looking to grab a hot beverage or a gift!

Our Retail Agents will provide customers with assistance in our retail store and provide made to order specialty coffee and espresso drinks.

What You Have

• Previous experience working in a retail role including using point-of-sale software, handling cash/credit card payments and receiving/restocking inventory.
• The ability to learn how to make coffee beverages using our professional café equipment.
• The desire to further your experience in merchandising and inventory management.
• Able to use a computer and ring up items for sale quickly and efficiently.
• A caring, positive attitude with a genuine interest in ensuring our customers have memorable experiences.
• Excellent customer service skills with the desire to work in a team environment.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional full-service hotel environment. The role uses standard retail equipment such as point of sale systems, cash registers, and phones. Retail Agents also make specialty coffee drinks using standard restaurant equipment such as coffee and espresso machines, sanitation equipment, cleaning equipment and supplies. This position requires some evening/weekend work. This position can require you to move through our kitchen areas when receiving food orders, returning dishware, and restocking the café area. Opening shifts run from 530am - 1pm, closing shifts form 1230pm - 630pm. There will be occasional special event dates at The Edgewater that may require hours outside of these standard shifts.
