Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at check lanes.
3. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
9. Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions throughout the store.
13. Comply with all relevant laws and company policies.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
