2. Learning the store layout and products.
3. Processing transactions efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
4. Verifying product prices and weights.
5. Handling different payment methods accurately, including credit card, WIC, Lone Star, and cash.
6. Ensuring cash handling accuracy and authenticity of bills.
7. Bagging and separating customer purchases properly.
8. Confirming customers have all their items before completing the transaction.
9. Keeping the work area clean and organized.
10. Managing returned or unwanted merchandise appropriately.
11. Maintaining product displays near registers to promote sales.
12. Preparing bags and paper rolls for the register.
13. Leaving the cash register ready for the next shift.
14. Promoting sales of additional products to increase the average ticket.
15. Following laws and regulations for tobacco and alcohol sales.
16. Working flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
17. Reporting equipment issues and hazards to management.
18. Performing any other tasks assigned by the store manager.
