Job summary

CRC Group is seeking an experienced accounting leader in Birmingham, AL to oversee daily accounting operations and drive financial performance. The role ensures strong internal controls, timely close, and accurate reporting while guiding a team through training and performance management.

The position requires a bachelor’s in accounting or finance, at least five years of progressive accounting experience with supervision, and strong GAAP knowledge. CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and ERP platforms.
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience with process improvement and workflow optimization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Develop, implement, and monitor process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing direction, training, and performance management.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and respond to inquiries.
• Prepare and review financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses for management.
• Maintain and enforce strong internal control environment to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate across departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and other financial activities.
