Qualifications

• Associates degree in human services with two years related work experience (or combination of education and experience).
• Outgoing personality with good communication skills and ability to work with diverse cultures.
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License; pass TSA MVR check.
• Working knowledge of computers; ability to document records accurately.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site intake and assessment to determine client eligibility for ESS assistance.
• Distribute food, vouchers, and checks to clients and refer to other agencies when needed.
• Maintain a current community resource guide and inform clients about available resources.
• Network with community agencies to maximize service delivery and coordinate referrals.

The Salvation Army Midland Division Corps located in Arnold, Missouri, is looking fora Caseworker.The Social ServicesCaseworker will provide intake, assessment, and services to individuals seeking ESS assistance. This will includeassistance with food, utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, transportation, clothing and furniture vouchers,prescriptions, and other basic needs items. The Caseworker will network with community agencies, programs andreferral resources benefit the Service Center.

This is a part-time, 20-24 hour position, with starting pay of $16.00 to $17.00 per hour!

Essential Functions

• Provide on-site and occasional outreach assistance to clients seeking emergency assistance.
• Provide persons seeking assistance with intake and assessment activities to determine client eligibility and to match clients with resources.
• Distribute food, vouchers, and/or checks as available to clients for purchases and payments and refer persons to other agencies if assistance is unavailable.
• Identify resources available in the service areas and maintain a current community resource guide to provide information and referral services and inform persons of the resources available to them.
• Network with community agencies and organizations to maximize services to persons and occasionally liaison between clients, The Salvation Army and other agencies.
• Record electronic and written client information in paper and computer records in a manner prescribed by the Divisional Service Extension Office and St. Louis Regional Social Services office and maintain client confidentiality.
• Record statistical data and provide statistical reports in a timely manner.
• Caseworker will expend ESS funding and in‑kind gifts in a manner that conforms to spending deadlines and governing guidelines and utilizes tracking methods prescribed by the Divisional Service Extension Office and St. Louis Regional Social Services office. All reports must be submitted in a timely manner.
• Maintain food pantry in clean and organized condition. Stock space with food products and distribution supplies.
• Direct, schedule, and supervise the volunteer(s) staffing the food pantry.

Education and Experience

• Associates degree in human services field with two (2) years related work experience with some supervisoryexperience.
• Combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Must have an outgoing personality withgood communication skills and an ability to work with diverse cultures.
• Strong leadership style and goodorganizational skills required.
• Commitment to carry out The Salvation Army’s mission is essential.
• Knowledge ofThe Salvation Army and Government, State and community resources is helpful.
• Must have working knowledge ofcomputers.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver’s License and pass TSA MVR check.
• Goodcommunication skills as well as the ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities are essential.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Capable of occasionally lifting 20 pounds and sometimes up to 40 pounds.
• Occasionally move 50 or more poundsusing dolly/cart/truck.
• Must be capable of performing in an office environment to include using a computer,answering phones, etc. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
