Job summary

casoms is seeking a dedicated Case Worker to evaluate the needs of low-income participants, complete intake, and determine eligibility for DCS programs. You will assess client needs, set goals, prepare pledges, and support Food Pantry pick-ups in Jackson County.

The role requires strong communication, computer proficiency, and a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Travel across Jackson and George Counties is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • One year experience in Human Service related field preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for communicating with a wide range of people.
  • A valid drivers’ license and a satisfactory driving record is required.

Job description

*This position will travel between Jackson County and George County. Must be willing to travel and have a satisfactory driving record.

Position Purpose

To evaluate the needs of low-income participants and provide available services. The Case Worker completes intake and determines clients' eligibility for all DCS programs. He/She assess client needs, sets goals and prepares pledges. Case Workers also assist with Food Pantry pick-up (Jackson County) and assist in compiling reporting data and community needs assessment.

Physical Demands

Work involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office and the facility. Work involves using repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment. Must be able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Mental Demands

Must demonstrate good communication and speaking skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.

Must have knowledge of case management methods, principles, and techniques (including information/referral, assessment, interviewing client advocacy, and resource utilization). Must be familiar with available programs, public assistance providers, Medicaid, service agencies, protective services, referral centers, community residential resources, and crisis/emergency resources.

Special Demands

Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e. telephone, fax, etc.). Must have advanced knowledge and skill in using MS Office. Must understand the fundamentals of automated data processing, and be able to quickly gain a detailed understanding of complex computerized and non-computerized information.

Requirements
Education

Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred.

Experience

One year experience in Human Service related field preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills for communicating with a wide range of people to promote goodwill and enhance agency credibility.

A valid drivers’ license and a satisfactory driving record is required.
