Job Description

AECOM is seeking experienced and professional Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG‑DR) Case Managers to join our team in Texas. Candidates will coordinate and oversee services across 27 counties, traveling up to 100 miles round‑trip two to three times per week and residing within the commuting distance of the assigned office.

Responsibilities
  • Perform outreach, intake, and assessments of program applicants and gather required documentation to establish program eligibility.
  • Maintain a caseload of applicants, ensuring regular contacts to adhere to program guidelines.
  • Protect applicants’ information and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Maintain client data systems, including case notes and timely record entries; upload and correctly categorize applicant documents.
  • Provide timely updates to applicants regarding case status and next steps.
  • Attend program meetings, trainings, pre‑construction events, and key release events with applicants.
  • Assist applicants with temporary relocation selections, when applicable.
  • Attend community, coalition, and committee meetings as assigned; network and advocate for applicants’ housing needs.
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead and Program Management to meet program goals and performance targets.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, professionalism, and awareness of the impact of a disaster on the community, family, and individual.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable program policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school graduate with four years of case management experience, preferably in housing recovery, or equivalent experience/education.
  • Pass a state and federal criminal history/security background check.
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license; must travel up to 100 miles round‑trip two to three times per week and reside within commuting distance of the office.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and virtual collaboration tools (Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong personal accountability and independent work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience with Community Development Block Grant programs.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese desirable.
  • Advanced time‑management skills leading to high organization, productivity, and effectiveness.
  • Detail‑oriented and able to multi‑task efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain flexibility with the work schedule.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25 to $28, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
