Job summary

The Salvation Army in Oklahoma seeks a Case Manager to provide social services in Cleveland and McClain Counties. You will greet clients, determine eligibility, collect income/expense data, and help complete assistance applications, linking clients to community resources.

You will prepare vouchers for food, clothing, and furniture, arrange housing or transportation as needed, maintain confidential records, and support monthly reporting.

Job SummaryProvides social service assistance to eligible clients in Cleveland and McClain Counties in the following areas: handle electric bill assistance inquiries and connect those customers to resources available through TSA, manages Food Pantry and food distribution. Interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures.Essential FunctionsThis job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. The incumbent may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Case Manager (70%)Greets and interview clients requesting assistance to determine client’s eligibility for assistance based on program guidelines and restrictions; records clients’ disposition and other pertinent information such as income, expenses, family, and work history; assists clients in completing applications for assistance; copies of picture ids, payroll statements, utility bills etc.Prepares completes, and processes food, clothing, and furniture vouchers for eligible clients; directs clients to shelter kitchen, thrift store or distribution center for assistance.May locate and arrange temporary housing for eligible clients, contacts local lodges, homeless shelters, motels, churches, etc. for lodging.May assist eligible clients needing transportation assistance based on medical or relocation needs; arranges transportation through bus- line and contacts family members, friends, churches for assistance.Serves as liaison to other agencies to obtain/coordinate assistance on client’s behalf; builds and maintains professional working relationships with community agencies.Prepares and files client records in a timely manner ensuring all information is accurate and up to date; obtains signatures of clients as needed; reviews and tracks all client’s records in order to determine if client is active or inactive; maintains confidentiality of client information.Coordinates and collaborates with community agencies.Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided; compiles and prepares monthly statistical reports; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Prepares, maintains, and balances bookkeeping records ensuring the accurate and timely accountability of funds; prepares and records checks for utility companies.Answers telephone in a courteous and tactful manner; assists clients by providing accurate and complete information regarding the social service program operations and/or services.Other Responsibilities (30%)Oversees reporting on emergency food boxes as part of the monthly intake data report.Supervises/conducts food distribution and ensures an atmosphere of safety, respect, dignity, and service.Orders food and supplies, in appropriate quantities, from the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, including USDA items; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with monthly food budget.Monitors the supply of inventory available in the warehouse/pantry, including all foods and supplies, to determine the areas needing additional stock.Coordinates the arrival and distribution of all ordered and donated items ensuring that items reach the appropriate destination in a timely manner; Receive, count, stock items delivered.Coordinates deliveries including accepting, unloading, organizing, and storing of donated and ordered items.Inspects ordered and donated items for freshness; rotates inventory to prevent or minimize food spoilage; discards items in accordance with established procedures.Cross trains to serve as Case Manager-Residential Services, Pantry Worker, Front Desk Worker, or other Social Services positions as necessary.Performs other related work as required.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED And two years’ experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Certifications/LicensesValid Driver’s LicensePhysical RequirementsLimited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5- 40% of work time.Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walkingWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and the like.
