Job summary

Lutheran Community Services NW is seeking a Case Manager/Parent Coach to work with families involved in the ODHS Child Welfare system. You will provide hands-on parent coaching, education, and skills training to support behavioral changes in at-risk families, in home and community settings.

Responsibilities include collaborating with ODHS caseworkers, documenting progress, coordinating services from multiple agencies, and maintaining timely reports.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Case Manager/Parent Coach will work with families who are involved with the ODHS Child Welfare system and/orresidein theTransitional Treatment Recovery Servicesprogram. Parent Coach will provide varying hours of hands-on parent coaching/education, interventions, and skills training to achieve behavioral changes in families where child safety issues are present. Provider is identified as a “Safety Service Provider” and will provide transportation and services in the community and in the family’s home. Will attend meetings and collaborate with ODHSCaseworkers, communitypartnersand other agencies, which includes providing detailed andtimelyoral and written reports.

• Providea range of services in-home or community based, including parent education, modeling and mentoring, communication skills, self-care, home management, nutrition, etc. to support and achieve behavioral changes in families where child safety issues are present.
• Assess parental capacities related to child safety, well-being, and needs to help resolve child and family safety and attachment concerns
• Identifyand create goals in partnership with ODHS Child Welfare and client
• Keepaccuraterecords and communicate effectively orally and in writing to document clients’ progress and to gather and exchange information
• Maintain and carry out all scheduled appointments
• Provide supervised visits to children separated from one or both parents to ease the transition fromResource parentsor relative placement to home
• Mayoccasionallyprovide respitecarein the home or community, including recreational activities and behavioral monitoring
• Prepare curriculum and teach parenting groups as needed
• Worka flexible schedule to meet families’ needs and be available for crisisconsultation;including occasional weekends andevenings andbe available forweekendon-call rotationonetimemonthly.
• Coordinate access and provision of services from multiple agencies, including establishing service linkages, advocating for serviceneedsand obtaining entitlements
• Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served
• Work with a variety of individuals in difficult circumstances, including angry and hostile clients, disadvantaged individuals, families in provision of services, mentally/emotionally ill individuals, and developmentally delayed clients
• Identifyfamilies with drug and alcohol dependence, physical, and sexually abused children

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or another related field, or equivalent experience, isrequired.
• Two years of experience working with high risk families within the last five years, including experience working with sexually abused youth, victims/perpetrators of domestic violence, and alcohol/drug addictions is required.
• At least two years of experience providing in-home services, such as: budgeting, housekeeping, nutrition, household management, appropriate physical care of children, and parenting skills and techniques is required.
• Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender. Motor vehicle records, valid driver’slicenseand auto insurance arerequired.
