Job description

Telework Available: Hybrid* (After 90 days training)

Position Description:

The Case Manager I-Employment Specialist at Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington, Migration & Refugee Services, assists and prepares refugees and asylees to become self-sufficient through employment. Working under the Refugee Social Services Employment Program, he/she is responsible for fulfilling all contractual obligations of the state-funded grant.

Position Responsibilities:
  1. Conducts intake, assessment, and program orientation for clients; develops individual employment plans for eligible clients. Enrolls clients into ESL classes & vocational training to increase employability.
  2. Connects clients with job opportunities and provides case management to remove barriers to self-sufficiency.
  3. Prepares clients to enter the workforce within 90 days of arrival. Provides services such as orientation to the local job market, skills assessment, career guidance, resume development, job application assistance, job referrals, interview preparation, job placement, and follow-up.
  4. Educates clients about available resources and makes referrals for benefits through VA and the Department of Social Services.
  5. Educates clients about legal documents required for work and provides referrals for adjustment of status and naturalization.
  6. Maintains eligibility documentation, inputs all client data into agency databases, and documents services in case notes.
Other Duties:
  1. Provides services within required timelines and documents services per agency standards.
  2. Develops new employer and training provider partnerships.
  3. Attends regular supervision meetings and case consultations, contributing to crisis mitigation strategies.
  4. Follows all agency policies & procedures.
  5. Commits to the mission, goals, and services of the organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and one other language spoken by clients: Ukrainian, Dari, Pashtu, Arabic, Amharic.
  • Flexible to work irregular hours.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & database entry.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree with 3-5 years’ experience required or Bachelor’s degree in social services field preferred.
  • Valid US driver’s license with 3 years of licensed driving in the US, a good driving record, and willingness to drive clients.
  • Previous experience in a culturally diverse environment, 2 years refugee resettlement preferred.
Physical Demands:

While performing duties, the employee may need to sit for periods and perform light lifting up to 25 lbs.
