Job summary

Saint Francis Ministries is seeking a dedicated child welfare caseworker in Kansas to perform assessments, develop permanency plans, and coordinate services for children and families. You will support kinship and foster placements, prepare for reunification or adoption, and collaborate with courts to ensure compliance with orders.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, KS license preferred, and 2+ years’ experience with children/families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or human service field required.
• KS license preferred to practice in the state.
• Minimum two years’ experience with children/youth and families.
• Must be 21 years of age and eligible to work.
• Background checks: drug screen, MVR, KS Bureau of Investigation, Child Abuse & Neglect clearance, Adult Registry, FBI fingerprint.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments gathering info from children, families, and collaterals.
• Assist with initial contact for placement and kinship considerations.
• Coordinate kinship placements, family meetings, and permanency goals.
• Develop and implement case plans with timelines and permanency outcomes.
• Determine services needed (mental health, substance abuse, respite, supervised visits).
• Assist families to build support networks and maintain placements toward permanency.
• Prepare for moves, reunification, or other permanency goals; provide crisis intervention.
• Participate in court proceedings; complete reports and ensure court orders are followed.
• Maintain accurate documentation in case records; provide on-call support and travel as needed.
