Job summary

DFA/Kemps is hiring a Case Dock Laborer to perform a variety of loading, unloading, and dock-to-floor tasks. You will maintain equipment, move cases with milk hooks and pallet jacks, and ensure empty cases are available to keep production running smoothly.

The role requires basic math, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holidays. Competitive benefits and a culture rooted in dairy farm family values are offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks.
  • Must lift up to 50 pounds and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • May have exposure to dust, fumes and cleaning chemicals.
  • Flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and clean all equipment in assigned area.

  • Complete paperwork clearly and accurately per SOPs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to management immediately.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

DFA/Kempts has immediate job openings for a well-versed Case Dock Laborer to perform an array of functions including

Maintain and clean all equipment in assigned area

Slide case stacks from truck using milk hook or pallet jack as appropriate

Ensure conveyor tracks are filled with empty cases to prevent production delays

Confirm empty case area is full of cases at end of shift to help next shift with production run

Correctly prioritize which truck to empty first based on input from supervisors, yard drivers, or others

Continuously scan the area and straighten up to reduce trip and slip hazards

Spot broken or otherwise unusable cases and remove them to the designated area

Handle returned and truck inventory product as instructed

Ensure trailers are unloaded and washed in a timely and efficient manner while keeping dock doors closed at all times when not in use

Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format and completed with required information

Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s

Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes

Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately

Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues

Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Case Dock Laborers will be responsible for handling finished or raw materials, while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and communicating effectively with all departments and meeting daily deadlines.

SCHEDULE: Mon. - Sat. 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Every Sunday off with a rotating day off during the week

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractionsand decimal
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
  • Must be able to push, pull, stand, walk, climb, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to be able to work in a wet environment
  • May have some exposure to dust, fumes and cleaning chemicals
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime as required, occasional weekends and holidays
