BEST Crowd Management is hiring for an Event Services Staff member at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. You will greet attendees, help with directions, and support event operations to create a safe and enjoyable experience.

This part-time role requires reliability, strong communication, and the ability to stand for long periods. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are common, with competitive hourly pay reflective of experience.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old and meet local regulations.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Experience in event security or related field is advantageous.
• Maintain strong fitness to stand or walk for long periods.
• Exhibit strong observation and problem-solving skills.

• Flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Possess valid security license or be willing to obtain if required.

• Must be willing to work 80% of events in Carver-Hawkeye Arena (home basketball and wrestling matches, concerts, etc.)*

As a part of our Event Services and Security Staff, you will be an essential part of creating memorable experiences for event attendees. Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service by greeting and assisting event attendees with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
• Assist with event set-up, including equipment arrangement, signage placement, and other tasks as assigned.
• Monitor event areas to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and compliance with venue policies.
• Answer questions and provide information about the event, facilities, and amenities to attendees.
• Direct attendees to appropriate locations, such as seating areas, restrooms, concession stands, and exits.
• Handle and resolve customer inquiries, complaints, or issues in a professional and timely manner.
• Collaborate with event staff, vendors, and other team members to ensure smooth event operations.
• Assist with crowd control measures, as necessary, to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines to uphold a high standard of professionalism and service excellence.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old (age requirements may vary depending on local regulations).
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent (some college education is preferred).
• Previous experience in event security, law enforcement, or a related field is advantageous.
• Possess strong physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Exhibit excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Work effectively in a team and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
• Possess a valid security license or be willing to obtain one (if required by local regulations).
