Job summary

Smart & Final is hiring a Service Clerk for our San Jose King location. You will maintain carts, assist customers with purchases, check prices, and help with loading merchandise into carts and vehicles. The role includes cleaning duties, stock adjustments, and ensuring customer service excellence.

Starting rate is $19.70 per hour, with opportunities for growth and good benefits. Prior experience in retail helpful; strong communication and physical stamina are valued.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with general public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain carts and assist customers with purchases and to their cars as requested.
• Check prices on products and return merchandise to shelves; manage parking lot and store maintenance.
• Collect and organize shopping carts from store and parking lot; help load merchandise into carts and vehicles.
• Walk aisles, face merchandise, and return misplaced items to proper locations.
• Ensure store entrance cleanliness and restroom upkeep throughout the day.
