Cambrian College is seeking a Technologist, Carpentry for the Schools of Skills Training, starting January 2027. Internal candidates receive first consideration as per the collective agreement.

The role involves maintaining carpentry lab facilities, delivering hands-on instruction, and advising on equipment and safety in a cooperative postsecondary setting. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Qualification as a 403A General Carpenter; must submit education documents if outside Canada (WES/ICAS required).
• Three years of experience after completion of apprenticeship training.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
• High initiative and strong problem-solving in a lab setting.

Responsabilités

• Plan, organize, and maintain carpentry lab facilities, including repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Provide technical expertise to faculty and students and assist in lab activities.
• Design and develop equipment and systems to meet learning needs.
• Evaluate equipment and resources and advise on purchases or repairs.
• Control inventory and monitor budget with the department coordinator.
• Promote workplace safety and model safe lab practices.
