Job summary

Jobot is seeking a qualified Carpentry Estimator for a leading commercial contractor in the Chicagoland area. The role focuses on estimating interior commercial projects, including metal framing, drywall, acoustical and specialty ceilings, and rough carpentry.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial carpentry or interior construction.
• Strong knowledge of metal framing and drywall systems, acoustical/specialty ceilings, and commercial carpentry scopes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Experience estimating union labor preferred.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, OST, Procore, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial carpentry scopes, including metal framing and drywall.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
• Review bid documents, addenda, and scope requirements.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations staff during preconstruction.
• Identify scope gaps, risk items, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support bid submissions and assist with project handoff after award.
