Job summary

IAP World Services, an Intrepid Global Solutions company, seeks a Maintenance Carpenter to perform carpentry duties necessary to maintain woodwork and equipment across buildings and facilities in Maryland. Duties include planning from blueprints, using hand and power tools, and selecting materials for installations.

Typical work involves maintaining doors, benches, partitions, counters, and related wood components; experience and certification in related areas may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5+ years of related experience as a craft worker is preferred.
• Certification in assigned area may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out carpentry work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
• Use carpentry hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
• Select materials and compute dimensions for installations.
• Maintain and repair woodwork, doors, benches, partitions, and related facilities.

As the Carpenter, you will perform the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors. Work involves most of the following: planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. In general, the work of the maintenance carpenter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. This category includes occupations concerned with maintaining and repairing buildings, grounds, and related facilities; installing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining in efficient operating condition a wide variety of engines and mechanical equipment designed for use in domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural activities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of related experience as a craft worker
• Certification in assigned area may be required.
• Consideration will be given to relevant professional experience commensurate with assignment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
