Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Carpenter Supervisor at Coffeewood Correctional Center. The role oversees preventative and corrective maintenance across the facility and leads inmate workers in carpentry, building construction, and related trades.

Responsibilities include planning and estimating materials, complying with safety standards, and coordinating with the Building and Grounds team on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other repair projects.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of carpentry, building construction, masonry, tools, blueprints, materials, and measurements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise the work of others.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance across the facility.
• Supervise inmate workers in installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Respond to emergency callbacks on a rotating basis.
• Assist in other areas of Building and Grounds (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).
