Job summary

ACCGov's Clarke County Jail seeks a qualified Maintenance Supervisor to lead skilled trades staff in plumbing, electrical, heating, and general repair duties.

The role coordinates repairs with outside contractors, conducts preventative maintenance, and prepares cost projections for capital improvements. A two-year supervisory background and an associates degree are required, with a 2-week jail course within six months.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in related discipline; 3 years of experience in electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, construction, or related maintenance.
  • Strong supervisory experience (2+ years) required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and evaluates assigned staff; directs work assignments and schedules; participates in hiring and performance appraisals.
  • Oversees planning and tracking of capital improvement projects; prepares expenditure reports and projected liabilities.
  • Performs skilled trades repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) and general maintenance tasks.
  • Responds to emergencies (24/7) and coordinates with internal/external teams.
  • Maintains inventory and procurement for department supplies.
