Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks a full-time Carpenter – Structural Trades Tech II to perform carpentry across campus, including roofing, painting, masonry, flooring, and general building maintenance. Proficiency in all structural trades is required; journeyman-level skills demonstrated via exam and practical test.

The role involves performing preventive and reactive maintenance, reading blueprints, and coordinating with facilities staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial and residential carpentry and facilities maintenance, OR 2 years of trade school and 3 years relevant experience.
• Proficiency with large equipment.
• Valid PA Driver’s License (CDL Class B preferred).
• Experience with masonry structures and fencing.
• Ability to read blueprints, create layouts, and order supplies.
• Experience with renovations/remodeling in commercial and residential spaces.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Willingness to proactively engage with students.
• Must demonstrate high integrity and be a role model.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and inspect doors and hardware.
• Install windows and hardware, including security screens.
• Maintain ceilings and wall partitions (wood, metal, drywall, bathroom).
• Maintain countertops (Formica, Corian, Surrell).
• Design and construct cabinetry and casework.
• Perform general facility maintenance for safe spaces.
