Job summary

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is seeking a Petty Officer to support carpentry and woodwork tasks across the ship, under the supervision of the Staff Captain. You will manage the carpenter shop, equipment, and inventory while ensuring safety and compliance with USPH requirements.

You will participate in daily deck operations, assist in keeping AMOS updated for maintenance, and train junior joiners. Strong seamanship, teamwork and customer-service mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Basic Safety Course Certificate and all appropriate certificates as required by regulations.
  • Experience on passengers’ vessels as Deck Hand or equivalent position.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Company SMS.
  • Knowledge of the vessel he/she is assigned to.
  • Good managerial and organizational skills including seamanship, team building, coaching and counseling, communication, conflict resolution and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to the Company’s Core Values and participate in safety duties.
  • Participate in the daily deck operations and be available for emergencies.
  • Keep the Staff Captain updated on projects/jobs around the ship.
  • Take full responsibility for the carpenter shop, equipment and inventory.
  • Assist the Staff Captain in keeping the AMOS system updated for carpenters inventory and maintenance.
  • Responsible for potable water filling equipment and proper storage per USPH.
  • Attend mooring stations as instructed by the Staff Captain.
  • Train joiner on the job as specified.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job description

  • Petty Officer
  • Responsible for the carpentry repairs and all woodwork outside of the cabins under the supervision of the Staff Captain
Responsibility and Authority

  • Assume personal responsibility for safety and NCLH’s impact upon the environment.
    Participate in the daily activities of the deck operation and be available if any emergency, which requires their participation, occurs.
  • Keep the Staff Captain updated on which projects/jobs are being carried out around the ship.
  • Full responsibility for the carpenter shop, the equipment and the inventory of equipment and consumables.
  • Assist the Staff Captain in keeping the AMOS system updated and maintained for the carpenters inventory and maintenance.
  • Responsible for the Potable water filling equipment, and that this equipment is being properly stored and used in accordance to USPH Requirement.
  • Familiarize with the USPH rules pertaining to potable water filling and storing. Clean Carpenter’s workshop air ducts and filters after cleaning, as specified.
  • Train Joiner on the job as specified.
  • Attend mooring stations as instructed by the Staff Captain.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
