Carpenter - Requisition 28064UCLA Facilities Management, Los Angeles, CA
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Carpentry and Sheetmetal Shops & through direct verbal/written work assignments from the Supervising Carpenter and/or Lead Carpenter perform a variety of skilled carpentry duties. Build, repair, install a variety of carpentry-related projects including: build cabinets & repair wall partitions, floors and/or ceiling systems, metal stud framing. Set door jambs, hang doors, install metal window frames, insulate walls, hang drywall, install all types of door hardware including panic hardware, concrete forms, scaffolding & special projects to achieve maximum performance, efficiency of operation & quality workmanship on a daily basis. Operate & maintain carpentry tools & equipment. Read blueprints in order to carry out assignments. Work independently & follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Maintain appropriate & safe working practices.
Job Requirements
Satisfactory completion of a certified 4- year trade related apprenticeship program or equivalent experience and education
Working knowledge of a variety of materials, equipment, methods and tools of the Carpenter's trade, including achievement of operational level journey- level skills
Working knowledge of Class A construction, UBC, OSHA, fire codes, construction procedures and ADA requirements (ADA/ Fire hardware and installation)
Possession of a valid California Driver's license Class C and the ability to drive a University truck or other light vehicle in the course of performing job duties.
