Lead Carpenter - Carpentry Shop - Requisition 27714

UCLA Facilities Management, Los Angeles, CA

Facilities Management is seeking a Lead Carpenter to collaborate with shop Managers, Supervisors, Project Managers, and clients on various carpentry projects. Responsibilities include providing estimates and schedules for cabinet and casework projects, updating project statuses daily to the Manager or Supervisor, organizing and assigning work to journeylevel Carpenters, Facilities Mechanics, Facilities Workers, and Apprentice Carpenters based on project needs or skills, maintaining shop supply inventory, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure availability of materials and equipment.

Job Requirements
  1. Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods, and tools of the Carpenter's trade, with skill in estimating material and labor requirements, achieving journeylevel skills.
  2. Knowledge of Class A construction, codes, fire codes, construction procedures, and ADA requirements (including ADA/Fire hardware installation).
  3. Satisfactory completion of a Certified Carpentry Apprenticeship Program or equivalent education and experience.
  4. Valid California Driver's License Class C and ability to operate University vehicles.
  5. Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs, or 80 lbs with assistance.
