Job summary

The University of Georgia Facilities Management Division seeks a Carpenter II in Athens. This journeyman-level role covers rough and finished carpentry, masonry, and building repairs.

Work follows sketches or blueprints with limited supervision to ensure safe, quality construction. The position is full-time, non-exempt, with a standard schedule of Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM and occasional after-hours duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years related experience.
• Knowledge of masonry and building trades is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow sketches.

Responsibilities

• Performs brick laying, stone setting, tile setting and cement finishing work.
• Repairs and maintains doors, floors, windows and building exteriors.
• Builds wooden structures and installs framing.
• Operates planers, joiners, drills and power saws as needed.
