Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking a Carpenter Helper for the GDOT SR 316 BUNDLE 2 project in ATHENS-CLARKE, GA. The role involves constructing, erecting and installing wood structures and assisting carpenters on heavy civil projects.

Responsibilities include measuring, assembling prefabricated components, and operating tools while following safety policies. A path for career growth and extensive training is provided.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years verifiable carpentry experience preferred.
• Must climb and balance on scaffolds/ladders.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
• Adhere to all safety policies and communicate effectively with crew.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Good manual dexterity; may stand, bend, kneel, or sit for long periods.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Measures distance and marks guidelines on working surface to prepare for laying down work.
• Prepares, builds, and installs wooden structures in line with prefabricated units for bridges, drainage, walls, and roads.
• May assist with installation of awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs.
• Uses carpenter’s belt with tools and woodworking machinery.
