Fort Bend County is seeking a skilled carpenter to renovate structures from verbal instructions or blueprints. You will measure, layout, frame walls, install drywall, form concrete, and install fixtures while ensuring compliance with local building codes and permits.
You will coordinate with other departments to complete projects on schedule. Starting salary is $20.50–$25.63 per hour, based on qualifications.

Works from verbal instructions or blueprints to renovate structures. Measures, marks and arranges layout plan of construction; Analyzes job specifications and orders specific quantity of materials needed. Installs, textures, and paints drywall; Sets forms for concrete; Frames walls and partitions; Erects scaffolding; Installs fiberglass insulation; performs plumbing and electrical work. Builds and repairs cabinets, bookshelves, and other types of furniture; Installs stairs, wall panels, ceiling tiles, glass panes, and door fixtures and locks; checks completed work for accuracy. Monitors and complies with local building codes; Secures building permits when required. Plans work schedule to coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of project. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.50 - $25.63 hourly based on qualifications
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
