Job summary

Regions Hospital is seeking a Carpenter Assistant to support journey level carpenters in maintenance, repair, and alteration of wooden structures and related articles. You will assist with fitting, installing, and repairing office furniture and locks as needed.

The role requires hands-on maintenance experience and the ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools, with a schedule of 40 hours weekly, typically Monday–Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience performing maintenance work, repairs and alterations to building equipment and support systems.
• Ability to use power and hand tools including table saw, radial arm saw, circular saw, and other hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Work with the journey level carpenter and perform carpentry work for maintenance, repair, and alteration of structures and wood products.
• Repair office furniture such as cabinets, bookshelves, and partitions; locksmith duties and install/repair locks.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Job description

Join our team at Regions Hospital as a Carpenter Assistant.This role will assist journey level carpenters in performance of all required duties while developing skills through on-the-job training program to advance to a journey level carpenter.

This position will:

• Work with the journey level carpenter as well as independently perform carpentry work involved in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of structures and articles of wood or similar material.
• Repair office furniture such as cabinets, bookshelves, and partitions; locksmith duties, install and repair various types of locks.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

(3) Years experience performing maintenance work, repairs, alterations to building equipment and support systems.

Ability to use power and hand tools including Powered table saw, radial arm saw, portable circular saw, jig, band, reciprocating, chain, miter, and saber saws. Jointer, shaper, sanders, grinders, right angle grinder, key cutting machine, drill press, portable drills, hammer drills, routers, heat gun, chop saw, and all hand tools and sign machines.

Work schedule: FTE: 1.0 (40 hrs. weekly), Day Shift, Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
