Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Carpenter Apprentice II to assist Journeyman and Foreman Carpenters while learning the trade. The role involves setting up trailers, building temporary structures, and contributing to concrete and rough carpentry tasks on site.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an apprenticeship, with a high school diploma/GED and prior construction exposure. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits typical of a large builder.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ,
• Currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program.
• Previous construction site experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Ability to read plans and visualize solid objects from drawings, and operate equipment including table saws and other carpentry tools.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements; lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Duties may change without notice; lifting over 50 lbs done with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Setup trailers and build temporary structures between office units.
• Install shelves, set up site per erosion control plan.
• Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms.
• Assist journeyman and foreman with shooting grades and elevation.
• Unload, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials.
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry tasks (walls, footings, decks, drywall, doors, frames, millwork).
