Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Carpenter Apprentice I–IV to support journeyman and foreman carpenters while learning the trade on active construction sites. The role requires hands-on tasks, problem solving, and safety awareness on busy job sites.

Responsibilities include setting up trailers and temporary structures, installing shelves, handling materials, and performing concrete and rough carpentry under supervision. A strong teamwork mindset and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program.
• Previous experience on a construction site is preferred.
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation and effective communication including active listening.

Responsibilities

• Setup trailers and build temporary structures between office units.
• Install shelves, setup tool trailers/conex’s, silt fences/straw bales, and setup site per erosion control plan.
• Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms.
• Assist journeyman and foreman with shooting grades and elevations.
• Unload, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials.
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry tasks (walls, footings, decks, drywall, doors, frames, etc.).
• Build relationships with individuals across backgrounds and levels.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
