Augusta University is seeking a skilled Carpenter 2 to maintain and repair campus facilities across Augusta's campuses. Facilities Services Division provides quality customer service by maintaining a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment in which students, faculty, and staff can function and accomplish their educational objectives and by supporting a patient care culture that continuously improves. Facilities Services' responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Working under minimal supervision, constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures throughout campus ensuring projects are completed and are in good working order.
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
Perform building walk-throughs noting items in need of repairs; ceiling, doors, cabinetry, make needed repairs as possible. Document and create work orders for each repair need requiring additional time and materials.
Perform roof preventative maintenance, according to OSHA guidelines, remove debris and keep drains clear, notify manager/supervisor of all known leaks. Manager/supervisor to work with roofing company for corrective actions.
Keeps a real time account of parts/supplies inventory. Notify manager/supervisor of low parts/supplies for replacement orders.
Perform all work in a neat and complete manner.
Contacts customer when work is complete to ensure satisfaction.
Respond to work orders in a quick and timely manner.
Communicate with customer explaining if work order is completed or if further work needs to be completed.
Communicate with the Manager/Lead any future work that needs to be completed to ensure all Augusta University equipment is effectively operating.
Document and notify Manager/Lead of any equipment failure and/or potential failures.
Document all corrective actions in detail on assigned work requests.
Utilize radio/phone during scheduled work hours and respond as directed.
Utilizes effective critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills to make decisions and communicates tactfully to Facilities Operations.
Log and identify discrepancies and recommend corrective action.
Perform work in a timely and professional manner.
Reads, interprets blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures.
Consistently provide professional, accurate, tactful, and timely written and verbal communications to Facilities staff as well as other Augusta University staff.
Establishes and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with Augusta University Facilities and its customers.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization and a minimum of four years experience. Valid driver's license.
*Preferred Educational Qualifications*
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
Five or more years of experience in the field; Advanced technical training with the maintenance and construction field.
Must have general mechanical aptitude and be able to safely and effectively operate hand tools, physically enter and work inside of small confined spaces, climb ladders and work at various heights. This position requires a moderate amount of physical exertion daily. That includes walking, lifting heavy objects up to (75lbs), kneeling, and crawling.
Shift: Days/M-F. Position could be required to perform on-call duties or occasional mandatory overtime and adjusted work schedule to support after-hours work assignments.
Pay Band: 8
Salary Minimum: $21.83/hour - $21.91/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
