Job summary

Wolf Creek Contracting is seeking a skilled carpenter to join our Ohio-based team. You will construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures using wood, plywood, and wallboard with hand and power tools.

Travel to project sites is required, and safety on site is a top priority. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, measuring accurately, cutting materials, and installing components such as windows, flooring, and trim.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to measure, mark, and cut materials accurately.
• Ability to work in a team and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety rules and maintain a safe, clean work area.
• Study blueprints or building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using rulers and gauges.
• Shape or cut materials with hand tools or power saws to spec.
• Install structures such as windows, frames, flooring, and trim with hand/power tools.
• Verify trueness of structures using plumb bob and level.
• Assemble and fasten materials to form frameworks or props.
• Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed for construction work.
• Inspect surfaces for damage and repair as required.
• Finish wood surfaces with paint or paneling as needed.

About Wolf Creek Contracting

Wolf Creek Contracting is a General Contractor centrally located to service the Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and surrounding markets. Our diversified crews allow us to have a wide range of projects such as new construction, renovations, concrete, design/build, pre-engineered metal buildings, and structural steel buildings. Typical projects are structured with one primary project manager and working supervisor or foreman on the job from start to finish.

Primary Purpose

Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.

Routine Duties

• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
• Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
• Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.
• Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
• Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
• Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
• Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses or buildings, using paint, hand tools, or paneling.
• Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
