Position Type: Regular (Full-time, non-exempt)

Hourly rate: $23.08 plus benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, performs rough and finish carpentry work at the journeyman level.
  • Constructs, installs, repairs, and maintains structures and fixtures using wood and wood-like materials (including plastics and fiberglass).
  • Builds concrete forms, scaffolds, frameworks, platforms, and general supports in accordance with blueprints, drawings, specifications, and oral or written instructions.
  • Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of carpentry and joinery methods and techniques, as well as the properties and characteristics of wood and related materials.
  • Measures, cuts, shapes, and installs materials with precision, using and maintaining hand and power tools and equipment associated with the carpentry trade.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and specifications to complete assigned projects.
  • Applies basic mathematics, including area, volume, weights, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, in daily work activities.
  • Adheres to OSHA regulations and established safety procedures at all times.
  • Prepares basic work summaries or reports as needed and communicates effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Performs work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery, including working from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Safely handles tools, equipment, and materials, including lifting or exerting force up to 70 lbs., and may operate equipment requiring the coordination of multiple controls.
  • Works in potentially hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions while properly using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in the carpentry trade.
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment physical examination.
  • Valid non‑commercial driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial building.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year‑for‑year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
