Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West in Houston, TX, is seeking a Carpenter/Cabinet Maker to construct, repair and maintain wooden structures within our hospital facilities.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Carpenter/Cabinet Maker constructs, repairs and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions, and other parts of the Hospital buildings using hand and power tools. Applications include the professional measuring, cutting, shaping and joining of materials and finishes

  • Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.
  • Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.
  • Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Prioritizes activities of self based on demands for service.
  • Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.
  • Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Practices cost-efficiently.
  • Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes. (Skills Competency Assessment Checklist attached).
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.
  • Prepares materials needed in advance for scheduled jobs to prevent the return to the department or supplier for parts or tools.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in the work load or assignments.
  • Demonstrates reliability in the conscientious and complete manner in which work assignments are performed.
  • Maintains work area in a manner conductive to efficiency and safety; cleans and organizes department on own initiative.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Five (5) years experience in carpentry field.
  • Prior experience in hospital or building maintenance preferred
