The Carpenter is responsible for the repair, modification and fabrication of furniture, shelves, walls, floors, floor covering, wall covering, special fixtures and other devices made of wood, plastic, metal, cement, plaster and fabric.
The Carpenter is responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of firewalls, fire doors and associated hardware.
The Carpenter is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the hospital buildings as pertains to carpentry functions. The Carpenter will do minor painting throughout the facility as required. The Carpenter will maintain an adequate supply of materials, through inventory control, to complete tasks. The Carpenter may be asked to move, install or modify fixtures. The Carpenter will be responsible for furniture repair within the facility.
The Carpenter may do other work as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Demonstrates an expert level knowledge of carpentry practices and expert level skills in common tools and equipment used in carpentry.

High school diploma and one-year technical school or equivalent preferred. Associate’s Degree or 2 years of technical school is desirable.
Training and experience: must have 5 to 6 years of experience in a related job or equal in training and on the job training, with at least one year experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

General hand tools common to carpentry repair, use of stationary saws and router and other carpentry tools as needed.
