Carpenter

As a Carpenter at Steed Industries, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing formwork and other structures for commercial concrete projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of high-quality concrete work, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and to the required specifications. You will thrive in a supportive and collaborative environment that values teamwork and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formwork Construction: Build and install wooden and metal forms for concrete pours, ensuring they are structurally sound and accurately shaped according to project specifications.
  • Concrete Finishing: Perform finishing tasks on concrete surfaces, including smoothing, leveling, and applying sealants as required to ensure high-quality results.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other tradespeople on site to coordinate work activities and timelines effectively.
  • Material Handling: Safely handle and transport materials, tools, and equipment related to concrete construction.
  • Site Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices on-site, participating in safety meetings and promoting a culture of safety among site personnel.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications, making necessary adjustments and corrections as needed.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any challenges encountered during the construction process, ensuring that work proceeds smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintenance of Tools: Maintain all carpentry tools and equipment in good working order, reporting any issues or repairs needed promptly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in carpentry or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in concrete carpentry or related construction fields.
  • Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment, including framing hammers, saws, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to collaborating positively with others.
