Job description

Job Title: Commercial Carpenter
Reports To: Foreman
Exemption Type: Hourly
Status: Full-Time
FLSA Exemption Status: N/A

Purpose: Carpenters perform physical tasks such as cleaning, removing debris, loading and unloading materials, assembling and disassembling temporary structures, reading and following construction plans and blueprints. The job of a carpenter varies from day to day. They are required to perform a variety of duties involving tool use, climbing ladders up to 30 feet in height to assist material placement, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds often, and operating equipment and machinery.

Essential Functions
  • Installing wooden structures such as frames, stairways, rafters, and partitions.
  • Assembling and disassembling temporary structures, such as lifts and scaffolding.
  • Erect temporary handrails and associated safety related items.
  • Climb ladders up to 30 feet in height to assist material placement.
  • Lifting, carrying and managing equipment and machinery i.e., power and hand tools, scissor lifts, boom lifts.
  • Physically able to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and rigging.
  • Cleaning job sites i.e., removing debris.
  • Capable of working long hours and in harsh weather conditions.
  • Must be safety conscious.
  • Must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations.
  • Must be able to attend company safety trainings as required.
  • Must be able to have predictable attendance.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
